What can I grow?
For your village: crops that hold up in a dry year, and irrigation that uses less water
Choose your village. For 15 crops, the water used from sowing to harvest is worked out with your village's weather; the page shows how much of it the rain covers in a normal year and in the driest of the last 30 years, and the irrigation need left per decare (1,000 m²). The list starts with the crop that needs the least water in a dry year.
For information only; consult the provincial or district agriculture directorate.

Province rule, FAO crop table and sourcesFAO Table 5 · CHIRPS normal
Rule: The province's yearly rain normal R (mm; the sum of the CHIRPS 1991–2020 monthly normals); the crop's FAO range [a, b] (mm per growing season). If R ≥ b the crop is in the “rain only” group; if a ≤ R < b, “with irrigation”; if R < a, “hard in this province”. 1 mm of rain × 1 decare (1,000 m²) = 1 m³ = 1 tonne, so the mm values are also m³ per decare. There is no other rule.
