Waters shared with neighbours

Summary

Five basins cross Türkiye's borders (Euphrates-Tigris, Meriç-Ergene, Aras, Çoruh, Asi (Orontes)). This page lists 27 treaty, protocol and ratification-law records published in the Official Gazette, 11 other Official Gazette records naming a basin, the reachability of 10 neighbouring-country agencies (4 reachable) and the state of river-flow data. Titles, dates and sources only; no commentary.

This is a list of facts. It shows the titles of treaties, laws and decisions found by searching Official Gazette titles for a neighbouring country or border river together with a water term, each with its date and issue number; the result of calling neighbouring countries' official agency sites from this server; and whether open river-flow data exists. Texts are not copied and nothing is evaluated: there is no legal or political commentary. Record titles stay in Turkish because they are the official document names. Country figures: comparison with neighbours.

River-flow (discharge) data

Method and limitsOfficial Gazette title search · filter rule · reachability check

Records come from a title search of the Official Gazette archive (from 1923): a treaty type or a water term plus the name of a neighbouring country or border river in the title; basin assignment by river first, then country; texts are not fetched. Treaties whose title carries no water term (for example economic-cooperation protocols or annexes to friendship treaties) do not appear with this method; titles are taken as they stand in the Official Gazette table of contents, so truncated or broken characters come from the source. Titles on non-water subjects (nuclear, culture and tourism zones, railways, smuggling, ports and shipping, customs, border gates) are dropped; "hudut" (border) alone does not count as a water term. Class: treaty type, or treaty/protocol/memorandum/convention/minutes in the title, counts as a treaty; the rest are decisions and laws naming a basin. Search terms (Turkish): Suriye, Irak, Yunanistan, Yunan, Bulgaristan, Bulgar, İran, Sovyet, Sovyetler, Rus, Gürcistan, Ermenistan, Azerbaycan, Fırat, Dicle, Meriç, Aras, Arpaçay, Çoruh, Asi, Sarısu, Ahuryan, Posof, Hudut Suları, Sınır Suları. Last run 16 October 2026 (status: received; titles scanned: 1,462); re-run monthly (8th of the month, 01:40 UTC). Record titles are as in the Official Gazette table of contents; the text is in the linked Official Gazette issue. Compilation CC BY 4.0; Official Gazette titles are official publications (Law 5846 art. 31). Data: /veri/sinir-otesi.json.
